The off-shoulder neckline and separate sleeves of this Embellished Off Shoulder Top give the top a sweet, feminine shape, while the tiny flower bud embellishments add an extra decorative touch. I love creating doll clothes because even a small amount of yarn can become something completely new for a doll’s wardrobe. This is also a fun project for experimenting with different yarn colours and embellishments to create several completely different looks from the same basic pattern.
Supplies
For this project, you will need:
- Crochet yarn suitable for miniature doll clothing
- Crochet hook suitable for your chosen yarn
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
- Yarn for the flower bud embellishments
- Your fashion doll for checking the fit as you work
You can make this top in one solid colour or use contrasting colours for the blouse, sleeves, neckline and flower embellishments. Soft pink, lavender, cream, baby blue and sage green would all be beautiful choices, but brighter colours can make a lovely statement piece too.

How to Crochet the Sleeves
You will need to make two sleeves using the following instructions.
Foundation Chain
Make a slip knot.
Chain 18.
Row 1
Starting in the 4th chain from the hook, double crochet into every stitch across.
Fold the piece in half.
Join both ends using 4 slip stitches to create the sleeve shape.
Row 2
Chain 1.
Double crochet into every stitch, beginning from the first stitch.
Slip stitch to join the round.
Row 3
Chain 1.
Double crochet into every stitch, beginning from the first stitch.
Slip stitch to join the round.
Fasten off.
Repeat these instructions to make the second sleeve.
Attach the Sleeves
Turn each sleeve inside out so that your joining stitches are positioned neatly.
Place one sleeve at the side of the blouse.
Using your yarn and crochet hook, join the sleeve to the top of the blouse with 6 slip stitches.
Fasten off.
Repeat on the opposite side to attach the second sleeve.
Take a moment to check the positioning of both sleeves on your doll before completing the neckline. The sleeves should sit evenly on either side to help create the off-shoulder shape.
Crochet the Off-Shoulder Neckline
Join your yarn at the top back of the blouse with a slip stitch.
Work 1 double crochet into every stitch around the entire neckline, continuing across the top edges of the sleeves as you work.
Once you have crocheted completely around the neckline, slip stitch to join the round.
Fasten off and weave in all loose ends.
Your basic off-shoulder fashion doll top is now complete!
Add the Flower Bud Embellishments
The tiny flower buds are what transform this simple off-shoulder top into a beautifully embellished doll garment. You can scatter the flowers across the bodice, concentrate them around the neckline, decorate the sleeves or create your own arrangement.

Once you have made your flower buds, attach them securely to the crocheted top and weave the yarn ends into the inside of the garment. Try mixing several shades of the same colour for a delicate floral look or use contrasting colours to make each tiny flower stand out.
Make It Your Own
One of my favourite things about making doll clothes is how easy it is to customize a simple pattern. Try crocheting this off-shoulder top in pastel yarn with tiny pink flowers for a romantic look, cream yarn with colourful wildflower-inspired embellishments, or a brighter shade for a fun modern doll outfit. You can pair the finished top with a miniature skirt, jeans, shorts or another handmade piece from your doll’s wardrobe.
