This Sequin Embellished Fashion Doll Gown is all about unapologetic glamour, with a dramatic oversized tulle bodice, delicate pearl details, and a beautifully full sparkling skirt. I love how the soft, airy texture around the shoulders contrasts with the bold pink sequin fabric below. The exaggerated silhouette gives the gown a couture-inspired feel while the pearls add a little vintage elegance. It is the kind of fashion doll dress I imagine being worn to a glamorous gala, formal celebration, or an extravagant dollhouse soirée.
Mixing Pearls, Tulle & Sequin
For the top of this gown, I used pearl and tulle trim, which made it easy to create all of that wonderful volume and embellishment without having to construct every tiny detail separately. The bottom is made from a vibrant sequin fabricthat catches the light beautifully and gives the skirt its glamorous finish. You can substitute the pearl and tulle trim with gathered tulle, organza ruffles, lace trim, beaded trim, or another decorative fabric with plenty of texture. The sequin skirt can also be recreated with metallic fabric, glitter fabric, satin, lamé, or another lightweight special-occasion fabric that holds a lovely full shape.

I designed this gown for Barbie-size and other fashion dolls approximately 10.5″–11.5″ tall. Because fashion doll body shapes can vary slightly, I recommend fitting the pieces against your particular doll as you sew and making small adjustments where necessary. What You’ll Need at Your Sewing Table
For this project, gather your free PDF pattern, pearl and tulle trim, sequin fabric, coordinating thread, fabric scissors, sewing pins or clips, hand-sewing needle, measuring tape, and Velcro or another small doll-clothing closure. A sewing machine can be useful for constructing the skirt, although some of the smaller details may be easier to carefully hand stitch. Since sequins, pearls, and layers of tulle can add bulk very quickly at this scale, take your time when positioning and stitching the embellishments so the finished gown still fits your doll beautifully.
